Vortex Trichome Separator

Introducing the New Vortex Trichome Separator (VTS-50)

We are proud to announce the launch of the Vortex Trichome Separator VTS-50—our latest innovation in solventless separation equipment. The VTS utilizes mechanical separation techniques to separate cannabinoid and terpene-rich trichomes from biomass to produce high-quality ice water hash.

Why Chose Solventless Extraction?

Solventless concentrates such as ice water or “bubble” hash are increasing in consumer popularity. One of the reasons for this growing demand is because solventless extraction is perceived as being a more “natural” extraction method—while also preserving the unique flavor profile of the specific strain. So, if you’re producing hash to scale you may want to consider upping the ante on your processing capability with solventless, water-based separation equipment.

How to Make Solventless Hash with the VTS-50?

The VTS utilizes a cold-water mechanical separation technique to gently separate cannabinoid- and terpene-rich trichomes from your biomass. With just the right amount of agitation these trichomes are physically removed from the plant while the remaining biomass is left relatively intact.

  • Efficient: A two-person crew can output an average of 13-15 kilos of dry hash per day
  • Easy to clean: Basin is made of sanitary food-grade stainless steel with 2″ port for easy drainage
  • Easy to operate: Runs easily either manually, or with the capability to set repeat recipes for auto operations

How does the VTS-50 Work?

The powerful separating force comes from the bottom-driven paddle in combination with a uniquely shaped wash basin creating a crossflow turbulence. The VTS-50 allows you to wash the plant material as gently as needed by controlling the vortex speed—one of the keys to minimizing material maceration and unwanted plant particulates. The result is a maximum separation of resin heads from the plant surface with negligent to non-existent plant-particulate contamination. The trichomes then remain in the water as suspended, undissolved solids. Once this water and trichome slurry mix is separated from the remaining biomass itself, it’s very easy to filter, separate, collect and dry the trichomes for use in a high-quality hash end-product. Learn More About Making Solventless Bubble Hash

The highly sought-after cannabinoids CBD, THC, and accompanying terpenes are produced in the trichomes of the cannabis plant. These trichomes are quite prominent and are clearly visible as sticky crystals on the cannabis flower.

The VTS uses cold water and ice to gently remove hardened trichome heads from their stalks, ultimately yielding a much cleaner, solventless hash product. With the right amount of agitation these trichomes are physically removed from the plant while the remaining biomass is left relatively intact.

A crossflow turbulence is produced by the bottom-driven paddle in combination with a uniquely shaped wash basin to create a powerful agitating force. The result is a maximum separation of resin heads from the plant surface with negligent to non-existent plant-particulate contamination.

The trichomes then remain in the water as suspended undissolved solids. Once this water and trichome slurry mix is separated from the remaining biomass, it’s very easy to filter, separate, collect, and dry for use in high-quality, light-colored hash.
